Since the book of Genesis where we are told that on the seventh day God rest, we find that it has always been God's intention to have a place of rest on earth, where He can enjoy the fruits of His labour and be in communion with His creation. However, this ideal state did not last long. In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve sinned against God, and the consequences of sin began to affect all of creation. The earth was no longer a perfect resting place for God, and humanity was separated from Him. Despite this, God continued to reach out to humanity, seeking to restore the relationship that had been broken.
